First Aid For When You Are Days Away From Medical Help.
The life and wellbeing of everyone in a party in a remote area does rely on the first aid skills available in the
party. The standard first aid courses are tailored for the most general situation where casualties are only 20
minutes away from a 000 ambulance call. Bushwalkers, canoeists, cross country skiers, anglers, pack horse
clubs, cross country cyclists and other our door sports routinely go into remote areas, where you can be days away
from medical assistance. BWRS First Aid Courses bridge the gap. BWRS St John Senior First Aid courses offer the
standard St John course in a way that better serves the needs of people who frequently find themselves away from immediate
medical help. The instructor has experience in bushwalking and rescues.
Be first aid trained - BWRS encourages safety in the bush
Our aim is to promote safety in the bush and we believe that first aid qualification are essential. With
this in mind we sponsor this first aid courses as low cost as possible while covering the content that we
believe is vital for people who travel remote areas.
Belinda our instructor is a keen outdoor enthusiast
Belinda is an outdoor enthusiast and can be seen in the bush anywhere, she is also a regular Navshield First
Aider. In this particular St John Senior First Aid Certificate course Belinda places extra emphasis on treatment for
typical outdoor injuries, particularly when medical assistance may be delayed.
In an urban environment first aid aims at maintaining life and preventing further injury for the time it takes an
ambulance to respond to a 000 call. In a bush environment where help is many hours or even days away, the first
aider will have to maintain life and prevent further injury for much longer, so that many more considerations apply.
In addition the environment can be very unforgiving so the wellbeing of the whole party becomes an important
consideration of the first aider.
